Dolly's Dream Mufti Day
The SRC are holding a Dolly's Dream Mufti Day on Thursday 11 May to raise money for the Dolly's Dream Foundation, an anti-bullying initiative that aims to create a kinder and safer world.
This is a charity set up in the memory of Amy 'Dolly' Everett. The day is dedicated to bringing the community together, spreading kindness and uniting to help break the silence around bullying. The SRC have organised daily activities throughout the week to reinforce the importance of this message.
On this day, we ask that students wear blue mufti (own choice) clothes to school - Dolly's favourite colour. In return, we ask students for a gold coin donation.
Please note that this event is not compulsory, and students can wear their regular school uniform if they choose. Furthermore, students must only wear blue if choosing to participate.
In keeping with departmental requirements, we do not allow thongs, open shoes, singlet tops, midriff tops or items of clothing with inappropriate slogans. Hats are compulsory.

Aussie of the Month
Every month, an Aussie of the Month award will be presented to three students (Years 1-2, 3-4 and 5-6) who have demonstrated outstanding citizenship qualities. This award will be based on a particular value each month. The Aussie of the Month value for May is Honesty/Integrity.
Integrity is acting in a way that you know to be right. It is having the inner strength to be trustworthy and honest. Having integrity means that you make good choices and that you can feel proud of your actions. When you have integrity, people trust that you make decisions based on your principles and that you lead by example.
We're asking all classes from Years 1-6 to nominate one student by the end of May who is honest, trustworthy, and says and does the right thing based on moral or ethical principles. One student from Years 1-2, 3-4 and 5-6 will be recognised for this attribute at a special assembly.
Classes will learn about the monthly value in lessons. To help families support this process, we have created a monthly calendar so that students can practise integrity. Every day, there is an optional idea for students to complete in a few minutes or less.

Book Week Festivities
Book Week is being celebrated this year from Saturday 20 August to Friday 26 August.
Neutral Bay Public School is organising a series of activities to help celebrate, promote and engage students in literature that tie in with the Book Week theme for 2022: ‘Dreaming With Eyes Open’.
Reading Trail – Monday 22 August
Teachers across the school will read aloud their favourite stories in the playground. Students choose three great books to hear, then relax and enjoy! Students may bring a cushion or pillow to sit on and listen in comfort.
Pyjama Mufti Day – Tuesday 23 August
Wear your favourite pair of PJs to school and bring in a gold coin donation to help to raise vital funds to support the Indigenous Literacy Foundation.
Book Tasting – Wednesday 24 August
Students are asked to share a favourite book with others in an extended reading session. This is a chance for students to read books they haven't tried before as well as different authors and reading genres.
Transfiguration Thursday – Thursday 25 August
Book Trivia– Friday 26 August:
Students will put their knowledge to the test with our literary quizzes. Students don't have to be the world's biggest reader to participate. Questions will range from famous children's books, book authors to film versions of books.
This quiz will be set as a challenge, meaning students can see the questions and answers on their own screen, and they can start it at any time - at school or at home.

Term 3 Advice for Visitors
This advice is based on the current departmental settings for Term 3. These settings continue to be developed and updated in close consultation with NSW Health.
Masks: Visitors are allowed on site regardless of their vaccination status in line with settings to the broader community. Masks and hand sanitiser will be made available upon arrival at school. All visitors are strongly encouraged to wear a mask on school grounds, particularly in indoor settings or when distancing is not possible, and when interacting directly with students.
Ventilation: Heating will be used in conjunction with ventilation to ensure appropriate levels of ventilation. Outdoor spaces will be used wherever possible. Symptoms of COVID-19: Please do not attend if you are showing any symptoms of COVID-19, even if you have tested negative. Rapid antigen tests can produce false negative results and symptoms of other illnesses can also be similar to COVID-19, including flu, the common cold and stomach bugs. Health advice is that people who are sick should stay home to rest and recover and avoid putting other students, staff and visitors at risk.
Close Contacts: Any visitor to a school site who is a close contact is required to advise the school that they are a close contact before they come on site. These visitors should conduct a Rapid Antigen Test and return a negative result before attending. They must also wear a mask indoors at all times.
So we have an idea of expected numbers, please book your place at this event by visiting https://www.trybooking.com/CBEYB or by scanning the QR code above.

Self-Care September
Self-care isn't selfish, it's essential. This month we're encouraging all students and their families to be kinder to themselves (as well as others), especially when things go wrong. Self-care increases our resilience and helps us get more out of life. It also helps us accept others as they are.
Here’s how you can get involved. Look at the September Action Calendar (below) and take daily actions with your family’s help to make a difference.

Education Week 2020 - 'Learning Together'
This year, Education Week will be held from Monday 3 August to Friday 7 August. The theme for this year is ‘Learning Together’, which acknowledges that the best learning takes place in a partnership of students, teachers, parents and the community.
Reflecting on the incredible year to date — with bushfires, floods and continuing drought as well as the COVID-19 pandemic — Education Week focuses on the achievements of students, school staff, parents and the community as we have continued to learn together in 2020.
Whilst we are not able to hold our usual Open Day events, we are proud to share the following virtual open classroom videos that showcase our students from Kindergarten to Year 6 for parents and carers to enjoy. These can also be found on each grade page in the Learning Hub.
